Chicago Theater - Chicago, Illinois
This is a 1:1 scale version of the Chicago Theater, designed by architecture firm of Rapp and Rapp in their signature Neo-Baroque French-Revival style. The theater was the Balaban and Katz's flagship location, and at one point was the "...largest, most costly and grandest of the super deluxe movie palaces" built up to that date. The theater is located in Chicago's main theater district in the northeastern corner of Chicago's Loop neighborhood. Some other well-known landmarks the Chicago Theater is located by are the Oriental Theater, the Marshall Field's and Co. (now "Macy's") Building, Block 37, and the New Masonic Building. The Chicago Theater's address is 175 North State Street.

- I know, I've built this theater before. This is my new version of the theater, with none of the same dimensions as my old version. If you'd like to see my terrible first version of this theater that was built more than a year ago, click here.
- This project is not just the theater, it also includes the surrounding two buildings: the Page Brothers Building and 178 North Wabash. I just wanted to include them because there would be sides of the building sitting blank with no detail, and having more detail is always nice. I also thought you guys would just like to see more projects and not me being lazy.
Some history and facts on the building
This building was built in the Neo-Baroque French-Revival style by the architecture firm of Rapp and Rapp in 1921. It is the oldest surviving example of the style used in Chicago, and was among the first to be built in the Neo-Baroque French-Revival signature style that was commonly used by Rapp and Rapp for building movie palaces.
Some examples of the French influence on the design of the theater:
- The interior shows French Baroque influence from the Second French Empire.
- The front design/motif of the building is journalistically compared to the l'Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
- The grand lobby, five stories high and surrounded by gallery promenades at the mezzanine and balcony levels, is influenced by the Royal Chapel at Versailles.
- The grand staircase is patterned from the grand stair of the Paris Opera House and ascends to the various balcony levels
Fun Fact!
Marshall Field's (Now "Macy's) supplied the drapes and many pieces of furniture for the theater's interior, and their flagship store is less than one city block away from the theater! You can find my Macy's Project here.

Now to answer your question- eventually, I will get there. The main plan for the main project was to fill in the full Chicago Loop (basically inside the train tracks), and then expand outward, therefore me eventually making Roosevelt University.
