This in an empty area 220 chunks in diameter that I created as a canvas to build a project I'm working on on. I'm providing it to the community to help ensure that others don't have to repeat my work in their own maps. It should be large enough to contain any adventure map or competitive gaming map that anyone might reasonably be expected to create, without any fear that players or observers might go far enough from the center to start rendering new terrain

I offer this map for you to use in whatever manner you see fit. You're under no obligation to recognize me in any way if you choose to use it in your own work.

Details:
  • Circle of empty chunks 220 chunks in diameter.
  • 4-block glass platform with spawn and saved player position centered on y: 63.5, x: 0, z:0.
  • The entire map within the 220 chunk in diameter circle is made up of the desert biome. This is prevent passive mob spawns and eliminate rain, both of which can have significant negative impacts on gameplay in many competitive and adventure maps. (You can change the biomes in regions you specify to suit your individual needs by downloading SethBling's setbiome filter for MCEdit).
  • Saved in creative mode, at dawn, with an empty inventory.

Yeah, it's not nearly as potentially useful as it used to be, since we can now set Minecraft worlds to generate void infinitely.

Back in the day though, it wasn't uncommon to run into naturally generated terrain if you went too far away away from the created portion of a custom map. I saw it often in Race for Wool maps with livestream match commentators flying far enough away form the course that they would bring ungenerated chunks into render distance. This was an attempt to help address that issue.
