Drehmal 2.0 is built from the ground up. Unhappy with some of the terrain work and overall look and feel of the map, Keeko decided to begin anew. Drehmal 2.0 is bigger, more detailed, and better looking than 1.0 ever could have been. Our plans for 2.0 are much more than just a pretty looking map, the full details of which can be found in the Feature List below. Our goal is to aim for a June 2019 Release, and will update this post regarding its progress then.

Ah, another wandering soul. Awoken from the abyssal void, seeking a purpose in this land. Drehmal lays divided, sunk into an age of ruin after the disappearance of the grand Kingdom of Insohm. The few remaining settlements that dot the land have been endlessly plagued by the scoundrel legion of the chaotic deity Mael, attacking under the cover of night. Our patron goddess, Virtuo of the Eastern Sea has gone into slumber, her soul resting deep within the sunken halls. The creator of the land, aptly named Drehmal, has been laid to rest deep within the ancient Primal Caverns since the dawning of the second era.

Drehmal is a fantasy map that's been multiple years in the works. Created due to the lack of terrain variety in most custom maps, Drehmal does not aim for realism. We instead aimed to create a world rich in variety with places to explore and marvelous views. There have been multiple reworks and overhauls, multiple attempts to turn it into something larger. Journey from the Central Plains to the snowy wastes of Nacada, from the small mining town of Ebonrun to the Hellcrags, from the volcanic Black Jungle to the serene Spearhead Forest.

Due to the nature of Worldpainter, animal spawns will be low for a while. Once you begin playing on the map more, animals will begin to spawn. Woodland Mansions and Ocean Monuments cannot be found within the map. There is no stronghold but there is an end portal somewhere up in the freezing wastes of Nacada. Both prismarine and sponges can be found in certain biomes.

This is by far my favorite rpg survival map! Biomes are vast and accurate, not to mention the beauty of them.

btw, curious to ask, would the future moded map be survival friendly with added flavor of adventure elements, or will it be primarily focusing on the rpg side?
And would it be possible to merge current save to the new map?

The modded adventure mode will be heavily focused as an adventure mode RPG in a similar style to HermitQuest. It won't be possible to merge your current save to the adventure mode.

It won't be primarily Adventure mode. Only in dungeons. The rest will be survival with some RPG elements :)

damn I prefer this way. Constructing in survival mode is my favourite thing to do, and that would be fun if added some/right amount of interactive ingredients

But I like the Japanese Forest, though one roof get burned down T.T possibly due to the tall glass tree, which will focus the sunlight

Hey, question, did Worldpainter lag for you when you were working on the map? Did you figure out how to stop it from lagging? I keep trying to figure that out but no dice.

Also, how much time did it take you, rough estimate, to make the terrain, villages, etc? It's really nice regardless.

Good to know about the lag, thank you very much ^-^ I've been worrying about it, because I keep having problems with that even as small as 2k x 2k.

As for painting the map and setting up the villages, that's interesting to know. I'm working with a pretty small team (two other people who don't share mine nor eachother's timezones, no less), and I was thinking it would take only a few hours. Oh well, I'm still determined to do it.

That is a shame that it's not popular. But, it seems like it just came out, so here's to hoping it gets a sudden burst of popularity within the next week. Good luck for the next map, as well!

Hi! I’m the creator of the map. And pretty much was Balderich said about the time.

For lag, I didn’t experience much. It’d only lag when I would have the brush on max size and it was only visual lag, not frame rate lag. So zooming in and back out usually worked to update it.

And thank you for commenting! I’ve been overall disappointed in how little attention this has gotten overall (like on Reddit) but this is promising.

I don't believe it lagged for Keeko while he was painting it, seems like that's just a problem with you.

It took ~1 & 1/2 months to paint the map, but it's been about a year and a half in the works (conceptualizing, writing lore, going through different versions, etc.). Keeko worked pretty quickly. The original much-shittier version took ~4 months of on and off work, it was pretty surprising to see him produce something of this quality so fast.

On average each village took probably a day or two, we just imported buildings from the schematic packs and then used world edit/voxel sniper to make them look pretty.
