Prehistory :

First plans for the ships were drawn in 1914 but due to WW1, the ship could not be built. The entire class should have had originally 3ships with a length of around 166meters but due to the loss of many ships after WW1 the ship plans were enlarged and the number of ships was decreased to just 2 and because of economic situation only the Traumland was built.




History :

-Start of construction 1919

-Launching 1920

-Completed 1921

-Start of carrier 1921

-1921 maiden Voyage

-1923 service was interrupted by the hyperinflation

-1924 service continued but the main revenue source lost due to the immigration act of 1923

-1927 route changed to Stettin-Halifax

-1928 most successful year of her career, she nearly always went fully booked

-1932 route changed to Stettin-Sydney

-1937 cruises in the Caribbean and world trips

-1939 was in New York at the outbreak of WW2

-1941 ship seized by US Navy

-1942->1945 service as Troop Transporter

-1945->1947 bringing troops back to the USA and Canada

-1947 gave back to the Americ Star Line but was put up for auction as the restoration of the ship would have been too expensive for the company

-1949 sold to D.S.T. Line as a replacement for the Oranje

History is continued when she is rebuilt by the D.S.T. Line
