Have you ever wondered how you get electricity? We all use it, almost 24/7, But usually pay no mind to how it gets to us. Power is produced at a generating plant. Which used various sources, anything from hydro, to solar, wind, coal, geo thermal, natural gas, nuclear, and etc. Power leaves the generator and enters a "step up substation" in which a huge transformer receives power from the generating plant, and ramps the voltage up for long distance transmission. Voltage can be ramped up by this transformer up to and above 800,000 volts in extreme cases. Keep in mind if you live in the US. Your average house outlet is 110 volts. That is over 7,272 times the voltage of your outlet! Power travels large distances, where at some point it will enter another substation to either step down the voltage, or maintain it. Like this substation above. Power is then stepped down to a sub transmission level, where it can be routed to heavy industries who have their own substation, or routed to another step down substation where it is converted to a distribution level, to be carried on utility poles, or underground, where a small round transformer on a pole will drop the voltage low enough for it to be usable by your home or apartment, where the power makes it way through the buildings wiring, and into the computer you are using now. or to the charger you use for your devices.


The transmission towers in this station are a place holder, and can be changed out with any 3 "phase" wire with two "ground" wires. Included in this world is the parts set off to the side that have been labeled, so you can build your own substation. If you would like to know how to build them.
