*EDIT* I'll need to redo this for 1.13 and beyond to get the included resource pack working. Will do at some point
Santa Maria del Fiore, the cathedral in Florence Italy (and Assassin's Creed 2). I built it in 1:2 scale on a multiplayer server in October 2010, and ever since I have wanted to do it in 1:1 scale.
New for 1.8: the bundled resource pack is applied automatically when you load the world. It also includes old style fences in some places (this build was created before fences attached to blocks, and counts on that behavior in some places), tie rods and statues all of which needed mods before. The textures are an edited version of Steelfeathers' pack. Steelfeathers gets all the credit for the texture pack, and anything that looks bad is probably something I edited.
To play,
TODO: modern accurate interior is done, maybe a second version more geared towards Assassin's Creed-like parkour puzzling, and with details appropriate to that era / game (the old choir, chandeliers, old facade maybe). Would love to see it if anyone else makes some better parkour goodness out of this.
The Florence Duomo (Minecraft version) by Jason (MamiyaOtaru) Winzenried is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License.
This means the Duomo may be used in other (non-commercial only) projects provided I am credited (with a link to this project) and as long as said projects are made available to be downloaded in the same manner as the Duomo. Re-using or distributing under more restrictive terms may still be done if and only if permission is received from the original copyright holder (me), so ask if you have something in mind. (this summary is not binding; for the legalese, visit the Creative Commons site)
The edited texture pack is copyright Steelfeathers and distributed with permission from Steelfeathers, for use with this project. Distribution of a further edited version of the pack will require renewed and separate permission from Steelfeathers.

To play,
- put the Duomo folder inside the %appdata%.minecraftsaves folder
- If you are using Optifine, Minecraft's auto switching to a resource pack bundled with a world is slightly buggy: the stained glass will not take on the appearance of the custom resource pack. You'll need to copy the resource pack into your resource pack folder and switch to it manually for everything to look right.
