✠Welcome to my entry forGheppio's Maze Making Contest...I've spent the past 2 weeks working on my entry off and on (I'm very slow when it comes to building, and as anyone who truly knows me is aware, I'm not a fan of using tools like WorldEdit and so forth, thus I'm slower than those who do). While I'm aware that this isn't some sort of amazing challenge/adventure map, it has been a complete labor of love to create in the fact that it has been a beautiful distraction of focus while my elderly father has been ~1,000 miles away from me while dying of kidney failure + COVID.
This build has been a meditation of sorts...a therapeutic journey that has allowed me to relax during some of the more tense moments over the past several weeks. It is not a tricky maze or an adventure of treasure...but rather a journey of reflection.
tl;dr: I've been pretty out of it but have found focusing on this contest to be quite therapeutic, so I hope that you enjoy the resulting entry that I share with you here, even if they aren't exactly the amazing action and/or adventure-type results that many might expect (or even demand?) of such a contest entry.
✠ To begin, I really cannot say enough just how amazing I think the Maze Maker Deluxe machine that Gheppio created is: it's simple to use and oh so powerful! Having said as much, I am really keen on having a section here in my entry that is focused on the basic design of the maze that I've submitted.
I opted to use all 20 tile pieces afforded by the template for this competition...
("All Your Tiles Are Belong To Us!")
Utilizing theDirectional Interface Pack(created by Gheppio for use with the maze machine!) was truly a must...as you can see below, it made life easy by being able to coordinate tile plots with directional builds...
(Tile 6: An example of why using the directional interface was super nice while creating this entry!)
Though I know it doesn't look the best ( I admit, it looks downright shitty but hey it served its purpose so work with me!), I additionally utilized PowerPoint to kinda sketch out how I wanted things to appear in the final map in order to assist with how I eventually needed to lay things out in the four chests in the "control room" to generate the final map: my crappy PowerPoint layout is in the upper image, and the tile layout images from the actual control room chests is in the lower image...
(Yeah, I know I suck, but I tried...so please be nice! ♡)
Aerial view of the resulting maze is as follows (the white box in the middle of it all is the maze-making machine's control room)...
The sky pack I used wasFancy Skies(I didn't use a resource pack affecting blocks).
I absolutely ADORE the uwu GUI and yes, I am never without it.
The Moirai (The Fates) were the three goddesses of destiny in Greek mythology. They were Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos. These are the witches in the sentry stations located throughout the map.
Absolutely breathtaking renders of the map created by ThisIsMystic are located here (thank you so incredibly much, Mystic!).
Thank you so much for the review, I really appreciate it and actually the nitpick is appreciated tremendously, too: though I hadn't stated it, I intended for falling off the pathway to be a bit of a "Game Over" sort of thing. :)
Only nitpick would be that you can become easily stuck, when you fall of the pathway. There seems to be in >90% cases no way up (except flying).
