1:1 scale Minecraft build of a Furutaka-class cruiser, a two-ship class of heavy scout cruisers built for the Imperial Japanese Navy, consisting of the ships Furutaka and Kako. With both laid down in 1922, launched in 1925, and commissioned in 1926, they were the first heavy cruisers in the IJN and designed to counter the American Omaha-class and British Hawkins-class cruisers. The two ships received aircraft catapults in 1931-1933, and between 1936 and 1939, they were substantially rebuilt.
The two ships were armed with six 20 cm (7.9 inch) 3rd-year type guns in single mounts, four single 8 cm (3 inch) anti-aircraft guns, and six pairs of 61 cm (24 inch) torpedoes, mounted in three pairs on the middle deck on each side.
Furutaka is the first Japanese cruiser that I built, and I chose to build it in its original 1926 configuration, with an aircraft take-off platform, and hull-mounted torpedo tubes. This build took a long time to complete, but I'm happy with the final result. The .zip file in the download includes a litematic file for those interested in building it in survival.
