Welcome to the behind the scenes post of how we made Sumeru in Minecraft!



Its that time of the year again! Last year it was Mondstadt and Liyue, this year work is already beginning on the second City from Genshin Impact: Sumeru!

The latest Region Sumeru features a City on a giant tree, and I just have to build it!

And this is how the progress is going so far:


(25.08.2022) We Expanded our 1:1 Scale Map to feature the latest region, meaning we had to shift the cities ingame so that every coordinate from our mapping corresponds to the exact block in Minecraft!

Day1: We also put the exact map of Sumeru into Minecraft and will tomorrow start working on the terrain!
Day2: Check out the Update Post and the new progress Pictures! Tobi helped me building the tents and will now be working here too :D
Day3: Feuerbobi and Basemaster07 helped me out with the bridge and the ravine at the entrance of Sumeru was started
Day4: Without help I today achieved to continue the mountainwork on the ravine in the south-east corner of the map
Day5: Today I invested in a plugin to rapidly speed up the future building process for this and upcoming great maps!
Day6: With the help of a clever datapack, we are from now on able to build higher than the vanilla height limit and also further below y -64!!!
Day7: Little Project break to work out some last details of another huge project :P
Day8:A bit more work done on the northern side of the build.
Day9-10: The northern part is almost completed!
Day11-12: I researched more about professional worldedit commands for a better build!
Day13-14: [​redacted] is currently taking up all my time, sorry :(

Phase 2

Day1: Time to continue this project with massive terraforming progress! One more day like this and we are on the go!
Day2-8: The City has started taking shape, take a look at the new images!
Day???:Work is ramping up faster than ever!

Day????: The Gardens were started, almost all emerald blocks got colored to the corresponding tree textures! Tyler sometimes sticks around, currently a bit unhelpful but surely there for a good time while building!



I made a final checklist of which only few points are left doing. The last parts of this project are interiours and the video!
