The U-96 was a fictional submarine of the VII-C Type of the Kriegsmarine that was featured in the critically acclaimed 1981 german mini-series then after movie ''Das Boot'' directed by Wolfgang Petersen, it is considered by many as one of the best if not the best and most historically accurate war/anti war movies ever, it also has one of if not the best cinematography and realism out of any movie depicting the Second World War.
