Herobrine's Mansion was originally created and published by Hypixel in November, 2012. Recently, they collaborated with Xiantis to remaster the classic Adventure map for Minecraft 1.10. This remastered version adds extra polish and several new features while staying true to the original experience of the map.

The redstone has been ripped out and done from scratch to make use of the new command blocks added in 1.9. Whether you played the original or not, we hope this remastered version will give you an adventure worth remembering.

I spawned in a checkered room and don't know how to get out.

The version of the map provided here is not for MC1.10.2 as advertised. It was made in MC 1.11.x. If you load it in 1.11.x (I used MC1.11.2) it will run as it should and you will spawn in the correct location.
At the time, it was strongly recommended to use 'Atherys Ascended' x32 texturepack to improve the atmosphere. The link below is to a dev version of the pack made for MC1.12.x and 1.13.x, however, I've tried it an it works on MC1.10.2 and 1.11.2. If you use it in these earlier versions, it'll say it was made for a later version, but add it anyway and it'll work. So if you want to fully immerse yourself, by all means try it:

Below is a link to a music resource pack. You don't really need to download this because it's included in the map zip file. I've put it here for ease of reference as this needs to go into your resourcepacks folder and then you need to add it to the game, as you would any texture pack. It gives a custom set of songs which were created by the team that did the pack. It's a preference thing though. I was not over keen on these songs, so I removed them and stayed with more vanilla traditional minecraft tunes, but the tune name and its creator will pop up in text on screen as each song plays, so its your choice as to whether you wish to use them or not.

The last version of this map for MC 1.10.2 was ver. 1.0.7 and using this version, it will load and play ok in MC1102.
The version being advertised here is ver. 1.1.1 for MC1.11.x.

The drawback to these remastered versions is that they have used command blocks, and because some commands vary from MC version to version, the maps will only work as they are supposed to in the MC version they were made for. As an example, I tried the MC1.11.2 version in MC1.12.2 - it seemed to work ok, but you soon find out you are missing things in your inventory and other things in game do not work at all as the game progresses, so as a rule, stick to the Minecraft version a map was made for.

For those interested in the history of this map, the last released version of the first generation of this map was v3 and was made to work in MC1.4.x, so it works fine up to MC147.... beyond that, who knows.

... by the way, this is not meant as an endorsement to this post, it's just that I have a some versions of this map and I like users to know the way it was meant to be played.
