Homecoming - A Demon Within 2 is an experiment in horror and storytelling, and the conclusion to the Yok saga of custom experiences. Using mechanics from popular horror games while integrating modern mapmaking techniques, it attempts to reinvent the Minecraft horror experience and ultimately make the player suffer.

Michael Pearsons is an investigative reporter who is willing to dig deep into the stories nobody else would dare touch. After receiving an anonymous tip about a factory near the edge of the Mojave desert, he goes to investigate. What he discovers is too strong to fight back against, and so profound that going insane may be the only option available.

If Silent Hill and Outlast II had a child that learned quite a bit from Outlast I, this would most likely be the result. Overall, I did have a lot of fun playing it, it was long enough (took me about 2 hours), fullfilled my expectations (and went a bit beyond in some areas) and most of it was very well made.

I really liked the sound design in this, even though I have to ask, I'm not sure if it was a problem on my end or if it was on purpose. But the music and some of the less important sound effects sounded kinda muffled compared to the screaming and death sounds. Intentional?

Also, did you make the 3D models and soundtrack yourself? I didn't recognize the tracks from anywhere and they sounded kinda minimalistic, so figured you (or someone close to you) made the soundtrack? If that's the case then kuddos to you.
The enemies were nice, the only thing I would add is some creepy sounds to them. I know they made those step sounds, which were quite creepy, but I thought they could have a little bit more of a personality.

Another thing I have to point out is the inside environements. I liked the outsides alot, they looked fantastic (except the "source" tower which looked a bit rushed), but what I didn't like was the insides (except the school, the final area and some of the fleshy/demonic areas, such as the huge blood lake and the blood drain was a fun one too), they looked a bit confusing, for sure the first one, it was all wood and was a bit confusing to navigate. Also I had a huge problem figuring out where to go on the first enemy encounter, but that was propably just dumb me since it was rather obvious, just hard to spot.
Later on I kinda got used to the mechanics of the map and ran through it with a breeze.

I really liked the design of the notes and documents, also the death-thing was pretty good. What I didn't like to the fullest was the camera, I think you could've made it juuuust a liiiittle bit bigger. The field of view of the camera seemed a bit too punishing and not too fun to use. Also, I don't know if it was just conservative me or you being generous, but I've ended up with a lot of batteries and overall pretty much always had atleast three.

Also for the glitches, there were some villagers/armor stands sometimes popping at random (especially at the start and in the outside, snowy roof area), and the climbing didn't work sometimes. Especially when sprinting. Also in one area of the school, you can hide in the locker and if you just keep on holding Ctrl you can phase through it outside.

Also as xKoreotic pointed out, the same glitch happened to me, no teleport to the next area in the vent. So I did as he did and completed the map.

Overall, great map that should be recognized way more than it actually is. Work more on the inside environments and maybe add some more sound personality to the monsters and it will be pretty much flawless.

Thanks for all of the feedback! I'll definitely work on all of this in future projects =)
I made the music and the 3D models myself, and I did mean to make that stuff quiet compared to the death noises.

I'm gonna look into the glitch with the vent, and (hopefully) update the map fixing that.

Outstanding work then. The glitch really is map-breaking and you should fix it ASAP.

A very, very well made made. Made me jump numerous times, well worth the amount of time I spent playing it (I want to say around 4-5 hours). I recommend anyone who loves horror to play this map, because I definitely feel that this is one of the best horror maps ever created for minecraft.

SPOILER ALERT

One major problem that I came across was the connecting sequence after the generator/radio tower area when I crawled into the tunnel (right after the diagonal bridge over the generator) it gave me the text that I seemingly returned to the school setting but I was still in the vent/tunnel. This definitely needs a look at, because nothing triggered for me. It gave me the dialogue something along the lines of "oh im here again" but didnt teleport me, I even backtracked the entire area. Then I spent some time reading the commands to no avail, so I just spectator mode myself into the nearby room (the bathroom stalls). I hope that didn't make me miss any of the story, because from there I managed to progress to the end.

One minor problem I have is regarding the story line itself. The story is still rather unclear in how it resolved. There is a plot hole regarding the daughter, why does she suddenly stop going after you? It is very unclear how that came to be, it was a sudden change with no reason (at least from what I could understand). The father's death also is unclear, possibly more dialogue or explanation as to what happened (something that gives us implications as to what the company did). What is more, there isn't any explanation as to what happens to the player and the daughter afterwards. Everything straight up ends with no connection, leaving me rather confused.

Overall it was still a fantastic map. I would rate it a 5/5.

Thanks! =)

I think in the tunnel you're referring to, you can just keep crawling through and the iron blocking the way forward will disappear.
When it comes to the story: the daughter still chases you, you just see her differently as a result of exposure to the thing keeping the monsters alive. I left the father's death and the fate of the daughter ambiguous so I could expand on it further. Maybe in another map?

I highly appreciate the feedback!

Thanks for the clarification on the story, sounds good!

As for the tunnel, I did try doing that. All that happens is I go up to the iron block and stop. The vent climbing noises do work as I am on the iron block/vent section of the tunnel, its just the block doesn't disappear. I'm not too experienced when it comes to commands, but I didn't see any command blocks that were to remove that specific block in the surrounding area. Of course it might be something bad on my part that I am unaware of, but I still believe it should be looked at just to confirm if something is missing or not.
