LOCATION

House Müller is a contemporary modern house and is similar to Eszet created in the town Dansberg, located on the World Of Keralis Creative Server.

FUNCTION AND MATERIALS

House Müller is built out of different elevations that function as one level; throughout the house you walk form one elevation to another, with each elevation having a different function. The house contains a carport for 2 cars, a living area, a dining area, a kitchen, a library, 2 bedrooms and a shared bathroom.

The use of concrete (cracked stone bricks) and glass refer to the unity with the environment. Concrete is one of the most used manmade materials and is invented and first used during the Roman Empire. This material contains stone, rocks, gravel, grind etc. and that’s why it works as a relative of nature, creating unity with a natural environment.

FORM AND EXPRESSION

House Müller is an homage to Julien lampens and Marc Corbiau, two well known Belgian architects who charted themselves during the post world war II area and after the turn of the century (Marc Corbiau is still active). That’s why a lot of people will refer to the modern architecture of the 60’s. The House is a gathering of inspiration from their works, mostly based of brutalism, the international style and minimalism, compared with today’s design techniques.

As in the project Eszet, I had to work with a diagonal shaped plot and environment. Starting on the side of the neighboring farm plot I created one continuous shape parallel with the division of the plot and the corps. Troughout the desing proces I created what I felt what would look good, it was a slight form of expressionism, keeping in mind the inspiration I got while looking through the works of the two architects.
