The only thing I miss in this types of houses are the central fire pit and maybe after the door a higher height level. So that you need to do of your shoes before going on the higher floors.
If my past experience with wooden buildings + firepits serves me right it is the following:
stone - stone - stone
stone- nether - stone
stone- stone - stone
As base. Stone is a non-flameable block.
Above needs a 6 or 7 block free of flameable. That should do the trick, at least 2 or 3 years ago...
Maybe give it a shot and come back later, 30min, to see if it burned down or not. If not it is safe to say it is build well.
