The Stuka (short for Sturtzkampfflugzeug, which means “dive bomber” in German) is one of the most famous German aircraft of World War II. More than 5,700 copies are built.
It was in 1935 that the first Ju 87 model manufactured by the Junkers firm took off. This light attack bomber on the ground immediately appears as an excellent aircraft, especially since it is very heavily armed. Tested during the Spanish Civil War, Stuka participated in the Battle of Great Britain in 1940, during which time it was presented as a vulnerable aircraft if not escorted by lighter fighters.
Used since 1942 on the Eastern Front, where it conducts anti-tank bombing missions, Junkers Ju 87 participated in small offensives during the Battle of Normandy during the summer of 1944.
The Stuka is equipped with a siren that sounds when the device stings towards its target. This bomber is also a psychological weapon, both for the military and for the civilian population.
El Stuka (abreviatura de Sturtzkampfflugzeug, que significa “bombardero en picado” en alemán) es uno de los aviones alemanes más famosos de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Se construyen más de 5,700 copias.
Fue en 1935 que despegó el primer modelo Ju 87 fabricado por la firma Junkers. Este bombardero de ataque ligero en tierra aparece inmediatamente como un excelente avión, especialmente porque está muy fuertemente armado. Probado durante la Guerra Civil Española, Stuka participó en la Batalla de Gran Bretaña en 1940, tiempo durante el cual se presentó como un avión vulnerable si no era escoltado por cazas más ligeros.
Utilizado desde 1942 en el frente oriental, donde realiza misiones de bombardeo antitanque, Junkers Ju 87 participó en pequeñas ofensivas durante la batalla de Normandía durante el verano de 1944.
