Königsplatz München
Within the NS-era in Germany, the national-socialists planned the reconstruction of many cities. One of the most through planned ones is München, then also called "Hauptstadt der Bewegung", ("Capital of the Movement"). From 1934 on, the reconstruction began. First not with an common plan for the full city, later on much bigger scale. This is a project on documenting those megalomanian building plans.

The next building in our Project is the Königsplatz in the Maxvorstadt.

The Place itself is much older and was planned by the famous Architect Leo von Klenze at the beginning of the 19th century.
The Glypththek and the Exhebition building as well as the Propyläen right next to the place had been planned by him back then.

When the NSDAP rose up during the 1920s they searched for a bigger Buildings, fitting for their needs, they found the so called "Brown-House" in the Brienner Street.

Even before rising to power in 1933, first plans were made to change the Königsplatz for the needs of the NS-party. Architect for the Project was Paul Ludwig Troost.

1934 the plans were finished and the reconstruction began, which ended in 1935.
