The Linoph-class patrol cruiser was a small warship designed by Syvatii Unlimited and manufactured by Kualin Stardrives to serve as an escort and patrol ship. Initial concept and design work began around 48,417 ACT, a couple decades before the first Shadow Fleet attack. The ship was equipped with the necessary systems to maintain GACIAF control in isolated sectors and systems, as well as provide close support to small naval groups. Eight Ederra T2150i-n laser cannons manufactured by Syvatii Unlimited gave the Linoph anti-ship capabilities, able to track small ships at range and deal significant damage. Secondary CorT3/SU510 light laser cannons and four missile launchers with 32 ID50-2 Thava multi-role missiles expanded the Linoph-class' combat capability, with the missiles in particular able to be tasked to intercept other missiles or strike craft with proximity blasts, or track heavier targets. Defensively, the Linoph was lacking compared to a typical escort ship, with only 10 point defense cannons and no anti-fighter weapon systems. This was acceptable for GACIAF as the Linoph-class was not expected to function in full-scale fleet actions, instead being dedicated to anti-piracy and law enforcement duties. The beginning of the Shadow Fleet Crisis shortly after production began in 48,786 ACT, would have a significant effect on the design's longevity. The Linoph-class had a section of its aft structure dedicated to storage space, including sets of containers which could be disconnected from the ship while landed on a planet or in a station, as well as additional space for cargo. This made the Linoph an effective relief ship, able to move supplies to sectors damaged by Shadow Fleet attacks and giving atmospheric support to surviving government and military forces. With GACIAF taking many losses in initial Shadow Fleet attacks, and a massive increase in criminal activity after the destruction and chaos across Ivesceel, the Linoph was produced in much greater quantities than originally intended, with the design staying in production for over three hundred years, and eventually replaced by an updated iteration named the Lathon-class.
