The Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor is the United States current 5th generation air superiority Stealth fighter aircraft. The F-22 Raptor was designed out of the Advanced Tactical Fighter (ATF) program, along with it's competitor, the Northrop YF-23 Black widow. Production for the F-22 stopped in 2011, leaving a total of 195 F-22's built. Under federal law, it is illegal for the F-22 to be exported to other countries to protect it's stealth features and as a form of retaliation to the countries that were offered to aid in it's development, but refused to participate.
