Manachya
Terrain
Manachya is a hilltop town, located in the Alasantine province. The terrain is hilly and rocky with a number of small cypress trees dotting the landscape. The town is found directly in the center of Alasantine province, allowing for easy expansion without the threat of attacks from the Cavin Confederacy. It is partly because of its location that Manachya is the largest town outside of the capitol, Alasantine. The area is a serene, peaceful place that is home to a number of Alasantines noteworthy vineyards.
Vineyards of Alasantine
In Drogyn Arthuro s Guide to Elmfax Wine, the top four vineyards are from the Alasantine region. These vineyards have been run by the same families for generations, and there is stiff competition between them. The owner of Manachyao s Domanie Vineyard has been quoted as saying: o This business is a clever game, you must give the illusion of friendship to the other winemakers, yet always try to gain something on them.o Though the art of winemaking is thought to be peaceful, like the land the winemakers inhabit, underneath the veil is something dark.
Architecture
Like most other architecture in Alasantine the buildings are constructed mainly of stone, brick, and stucco. The streets are bustling centers of trade, containing many open air market stalls. The narrow and winding alleys inside the town offer a sense of cozy safeness, with clotheslines strung between windows, and awnings leaning into the streets. Once one leaves the hub of town and ventures out into the countryside, you can find a number of large villas owned by the upper class of Manachya. These villas are large estates that house multiple members of a single family.
History
Manachya was first settled by four families: The Abelleo s, The Manchao s, The Callistoo s, and The Morinoes who all traveled from Alasantine. Their settlement was founded on the ideal of pastoral escape from the bustling city life of Alasantine. These families set up multiple vineyards to support their living and over the years more and more people ventured out to join in the way of life that the first settlers sought out. Eventually the town known as Manachya was formed when the Manchao s vineyard became the most prosperous, and they bade the king of Alasantine at the time for a Vassalage. The Mancha family still lives in the area, in their manor at the top of the hill, and they are responsible for the maintenance, recruitment, and prosperity of the region. In return, they were offered a lordship under Alasantine.
