This is ArdaCraft's recreation of Michel Delving, the chief township and de facto capital of the Shire from J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. Located in the White Downs of the Shire, it also lies within the Westfarthing and on the Great East Road. The Mayor of the Shire's office is located here, as well as the Mathom-house, a museum of sorts, and the office of the Postmaster. After the War of the Ring, Samwise Gamgee was elected as the Mayor of the Shire and came to live here.

Michel Delving lies in the White Downs, a series of chalk downlands, and to maintain the best possible quality these whole town and area around it conform to geological and botanical realism, not just for the surrounding areas, but also for the farmlands within the town, and the streams and small lake that run through it. Lore is also a highly important factor to us, and any detail to the lore that was written down by Tolkien was included, such as some of the artifacts kept within the Mathom-house.

Michel Delving forms part of a larger project which seeks to recreate Middle-earth in its entirety. Credit goes to Kemce and Glov for leading this project, and to the entire community of builders for helping out.

Michel Delving can be viewed from above on ArdaCraft's dynmap. There is no download avaliable, but ArdaCraft is a non-whitelisted server which anyone is welcome to come and explore, provided they have installed our modpack first.
