IN DEVELOPMENT!!!

First of all, take a look at my finished 1:2000 map here.

There is 1 major difference between those maps. On the 1:2000 scale map, I tried to use natural "borders" to place the biomes and make it a smooth transition between these biomes. But this was a bad idea for different reasons. For example, take a look at Australia. On the smaler version, the whole continent is a desert. On the bigger version there are at least 5 climate zones / biomes. To achive this, I used the "Köppen climate classification" (see more below).

The focus of this map is clearly the playability!

The main goal is to transfer this old Map to Minecraft 1.12 / 1.13 with all current biomes, plants, etc.
If you have any suggestions for improvement, let me know in the comments.

Images:

I had to cut the exported images, because most programs can't handle the size (~100mb *.png file)
You can take a look at the 100% resolution (1 pixel = 1 block) terrain and biome distribution here:

- All borders displayed as Cobblestone Walls - 100% done
- All capital cities (maybe villages, maybe sign, maybe something else, maybe nothing) - 0% done

Tipps for playing:

I used spigotmc to load and populate the map. With the plugin WorldBorder, I set a border and filled the map.

wb shape rectangular
wb earth setcorners -19439 -9455 19438 9454
wb wrap earth on
wb earth fill 1000 528 true
wb fill confirm

the world name 'earth' is optional when you are on the server, but necessary when running the command in the server console. It must be changed to your world name if it differs.
- The "warp" command will make border crossings in that world send the player around to the opposite edge of the border instead of just knocking them back. Its super cool for east-west-movement, but wrong (and kind of funny) when you teleport from the north to the south pole, but I think its worth it.
- The border is 528 blocks from the end of the map, so you can use the max. 32 chunks view without generating new chunks.

Last but not least:

I don't want to forget the sources for this project.
First of all, I used the heighmap and terrain distribution of this old Minecraft Earth Map postet several years ago! Thank you so much for this starting point!!!
Secondly I like to thanks all Devs of WorldPainter, Minecraft, spigotmc and of course Google.
Please report any bugs, missing / false biomes, etc. to improve this map!
Feel free to download, mirror & even change the map, but please link to this source.
And of course feel free to Like, Share, Post, etc.

Hello. I would like to know if you still have an update to the map in the future. Because i want to start to build in this map.

Thanks for response, and very good work.
I'm pretty confident there will be an update. (Like heigher mountains, better biomes)... but I'm a little busy right now.

It's the "free download limit"... I need to change the hoster -.-
Look's cool, and is one of the better world/earth maps out there.

Hello, I would like to know the next things:
Are there the islands of Easter Island, Deventuradas, Juan Fernández and Diego Ramirez included?

Will you add the Patagonian Ice Fields?

Is the Western Patagonia greener than the Eastern?

Also the "Altiplano" region in South America should have more sand and less snow, maybe put snow in the "Salar de Uyuni" and the other salt pans near

It says the progress is about 100% complete. Is it still WIP?
It's like a beta. All things are working and it's 100% playable, but I want to change some suggestions I'm getting from the comments.

I'm liking it. I'd like to see a different version of a map where there aren't any country borders, though. What I plan to do with this map is to have it set in a very different kingdom.

Do you have copies of the height and terrain maps from the link you posted? The links on the forum seem to be dead and I'd like to play around with the maps.
Sorry, forgot the links: Look here: https://www.planetminecraft.com/project/earth-11000/ it's still available!

This has so much potential to become a top survival map. Please always provide a version without custom additions, so that the players can populate the land and rebuild all great achievements of mankind.

I think it is very important, that you raise the mountain level. There is not much incentive to build something like the Gotthard tunnel from germany to italy if the mountains of the alps are just 25-30 blocks higher than the surroundings. Make it 100 blocks higher for snowy mountains! You could also lower the sealevel so that you just remove some deepness in favor of more natural land.

Still a nice project!
Hey man, I applaud you for this map creation and would like to spit some ideas your way.
It'd be cool to see a railroad track or the Panama canal on the map
The great wall of China would be cool
Area 51 in Nevada
The waterfall connecting the US and Canada
A castle in Poland
Volcano in Hawaii
The statue of liberty
And other landmarks like these.
Also, have you ever thought of making a Pangaea map?
Anyways, hope you find some of those appealing

I wont add custom structures. Feel free to build them yourself ;)

there already is a volcano in hawaii

I really like the map and I would certainly use it. Please add some structures such as the maian temple as the jungle temple
I wont add custom structures. But I'll try to add Minecraft vanilla structures. But this is not very easy!

Hello,

First of all, I'd like to thank you for this project, since the last decent Earth map was done a lot of time ago, and is now obsolete.

Second of all, I am from Argentina and I'd like to give you some tips about South American biomes. If I am not wrong, the Patagonia region is partially a desert, which is correct, but it is not the desert we know with sand dunes like the Sahara. I recommend to put a mix of rock and dry grass to it. The East of the Patagonia also does not have a lot of vegetation on it, mainly dry and short bushes.

Going to the Northern region of the Southern Cone, I recommend to add the jungle which exists in the Argentine province of Misiones, most of Paraguay and half of Bolivia. There are a lot of lakes in the province of Corrientes called Esteros del Iberá, which I'd also like to be added into the map.

I also recommend that you add Lake Titicaca in Perú and Bolivia if it is not added, and that the Western part of the Andes which you put sand on it should be a mix of stone, terracotta (previously hardened clay) and sand.

That is generally what I suggest, if you want to know more about the South American continent do not hesitate to ask me, and again I congratulate you for this project.
thank you very much, this is the input I was looking for ;) I changed the underground material to a mix of stone / gravel / sand / gras. Sadly, the lakes (e.g. Titicaca) are above the snow layer of minecraft, so they would be frozen :/

Also, I have another suggestions that could help:

First of all, I recommend to add islands like Easter Island, Saint Helena, Ascension and such since although they are small they are important to players who want to do an island gameplay or just build their country in creative.

Second, I checked the terrain map and some parts of the map, especially the blocks below water, are too blocky. Maybe if you smooth them out it would be a ton times better.

And the last one is that you put another links to download like Mediafire or Google Drive since Mega and PCloud require a ton of times that you pay a plan to download it at a normal rate.

Anyways, I thank you again for this map and wish you luck in your work.
I'm already planing to change to Google Drive, because the pcloud "transfer volume" is to small :/
