See Update log for details

This project is my personal version of the Mines of Moria and is inspired by the original Godcraft server project. For more details on all of that, read the Start entry in the update log. The word chunk, when used in the log does not refer to the 16x16 chunks in Minecraft, but rather, it refers to a section of my project (a tile really) that is 25x25, 15x15, or some combination thereof, with the larger ones being empty floor, and the smaller ones being the columns. The project currently has semi-consistent help from Vashti, my fiance, MagicBULLET, my brother, and sometimes Hibbsi. Currently, there is no video for this project, though I may make one later when the project is more complete. There are several other projects that are located on the same server, though they are all simply started, and are awaiting the completion of this one.

As a note, this project is not designed to be accurate to the Lord of the Rings lore that it draws its name from, but is more designed to capture the feel of the massive columns and scale seen in the movie and artwork, with inspiration taken from my own thoughts. The server is open on a whitelist basis and the map will not be made available for download. Let me know what your thoughts are in the comments for this project and remember to watch the update log for the latest changes.

Additional Notes

Updated 9/28/2011:

Using Bukkit v935with Worldedit 4.6 for superpickaxe command in the excavation. All materials are gathered and forged, not given.

The remaining 20% of the project was completed with MCedit as the world that the project was created in is being retired.

Texture pack is Zar's Awesome Pack or the default textures.

Server is online and whitelisted. Check the link for more information. Posting whitelist requests here will result in me banning you on my server. Currently the whitelist is open for new applications.

Completion : by Zaralith 09/28/2011 3:58:24 pmSep 28th, 2011

Moria is finished. I have completed the main hall with the help of MCedit for the last ~20% of the excavation, as well as moving torch holders that I discovered were not placed straight. The current schematic is only the main room with the columns and does not include the grand hall, tunnel, or ESC. Those will be added at a later time and included in a super schematic. With the current schematic, since it is a straight rectangular box, you will be able to import it directly. When the final version is released, it will be trimmed to exact size and will be filled with wool instead of air so that you can place it into a mountain without any problems. There is a single north facing torch missing from the file, if you find it, please let me know where it is in relation to the staircase so that I may correct the problem. If you notice any torch holders on the roof that are not lined up properly, please let me know that as well. As my server world is going to be regenerated, I have changed my mind about providing a schematic for this build, since it will no longer be available for some time on my server.

Ya, this was made after seeing the videos that they had before they did their first server reset. I have seen one of the other Moria builds they did more recently and it was also insane. Brain dies at the thought of rebuilding this again, since it was done without enchanting being available, but there was a fair bit of console commands near the end.

I've seen countless things in Minecraft. I've seen some literally jaw-dropping creations to things that shouldn't even be called art. Even though this build is very simple, there is just something about the Mines of Moria that just gets the adrenaline going, so bravo, you made me happy with this build ;)

Thank you. I have not really had time to build anything fancy in a while, so this is pretty much it. I may look into something else awesome in the future.
