Based on the real-life Cornish landmark: St. Michael’s Mount (not to be confused with Mont St. Michel), Mount St. Arnold’s rises high above the ocean to the south of Whitesea. Perched atop a monolith of granite, rising above the cold, harsh ocean, the castle, known as ‘The Jewel in Whitsea’s Crown’ has stood for centuries. Constructed in the mid 12th century, the castle was home to the monks and priors until it was purchased by Captain John St. Aubern in 1653. To this day, the Castle belongs to the St. Aubern family as a stately home. At the foot of the island lies the small fishing village of St. Arnold’s. The walled harbor provides for large trade ships such as the HMS Fortinatta and other fishing boats to moor at the island. Inhabited by under 200 people, the village is comprised of mostly fishermen with the odd shopowner every now and then. The picturesque village features a large sail house, a few warehouses, stables, a cemetery, a few shops, and of course, homes. At the end of the main road lies Mount Gatehouse, a small building guarding the road up to the castle. The road forks and twists around to the south face of the island, where the gorgeous gardens lie, under the steep, rocky cliffs. Back around the front face of the mount, halfway up the road to the castle is the 'Old Dairy’ a peculiar octagonal building. Used for the creation and storage of butter and cream, its cool, stone walls provide for easy storage of the dairy. The island of St. Arnold’s is linked to the greater Isle of Whitesea by a winding cobbled causeway, accessible only during low-tide. The causeway links up to the town of Cambrose (my next project). The entire island of St. Arnold’s is governed by the sea, of which the island emerges. Its granite slopes stand strong against the salty winds, but the water will endlessly eat at the island. In defiance of the strong waves, Mount St. Arnold’s will remain steadfast, standing strong against the ocean.
St. Arnold’s has been an incredibly fun project to create over the past months. The idea popped into my head when I found a picture of the castle on Instagram. I started it around the end of November and haven’t stopped working on it since. Throughout my hours of building, I’d found that it was quite enjoyable because it had a little bit of everything: a small village, some cool terraforming, and of course, the large castle on a rock. I tried my best to recreate it in a similar state to how it is in real life. Of course, there are some limitations to that, but overall I’m incredibly happy with how it’s gone. I started with the castle and actually built the island around it. Then came the village and harbor, which were very enjoyable to create. I will at some point create the interior for a few of the cottages, and parts of the castle, but interiors are not my favorite. This project comes with the intention of creating the mainland counterpart village across the water, similar to how Marazion is situated in real life. Look up 'St. Michael's Mount' if you'd like to see more pictures of the real thing!
If you enjoyed this project, go check it out in action in WBCBuilds latest video: the March Server Update Part 1. I also have the Instagram post linked if you'd like to see even more pictures! A big thanks to WBC for taking those pictures (picture 2), they're fantastic!

This island and my town of St. Arnold's are built on the WBCBuilds server, in Whitesea.
This is a completely original build, built entirely by me. It is a Vanilla Minecraft build apart from the World Edit mod, and the WBCBuilds texture pack, which only makes very subtle changes to vanilla blocks. BSL shaders were used for the pictures. There is no world download, as these are my builds, and I'd rather just show them off with pictures.
Thanks! Enjoy Mount St. Arnold's...
Mount St. Arnolds is a part of The Whitesea Project. The Isle of Whitesea is my province of the Empire of Whiteburg based on Cornwall and Devon. If you would like to learn more about Whitesea and other similar builds, check out the WBC Builds discord server!

I apologise for the long comment but there is a lot to talk about here. Really great job Lanzelot, and I look forward to seeing the project on the server at some point soon
