MV (Motor Vessel) Oceanic (III) Was an unfinished Ocean Liner ordered by the White Star Line in 1928. The dimensions of the ship are unclear, but the most likely numbers range from 1,050 Feet OA, to 1,080 Feet OA, With a known length of 1,000 feet BP. The only plans available for the vessel is a 1926 proposal GA plan, with four funnels, and described as bearing a "Family-Like" resemblance to the Olympic Class. The other plan was an engine layout plan released in the 1960s, which shows a profile view of the vessel, and engine layouts. The design I am building, which is the final/maiden voyage design, the plans have not been released and are still classified as "missing". This is my interpretation of the final design of the Oceanic based on the very minimal references to it.

Update #4 Deciphering the Interior : by TLO 02/16/2023 9:24:58 pmFeb 16th, 2023

Well it's been over a year and what has been done?

Not much lol. I have a lot going on and lost interest for a while, but we back. New and highly detailed funnels are installed, and a complete gutting of the interior save for some of the forward crew and the observation lounge. Everything else on the interior is gone. Interior work is progressing how it always should have, layout first. Cabin Class, Tourist Class, and Third Class general layouts are complete. Crew layout work begins, which is the real test, as these passages will connect and "interact" with all 3 classes I have already completed, which have been, to this point, almost entire independent from one another. The layout is determined based this logic:

-Oceanic plans first. If I have a relevant Oceanic 3 plan, that takes priority. I will abide by whatever that tells me, however the ONLY official Oceanic plan ever released was a very basic engine layout plan from which tells us very little. It does provide placements and spacing of at least a few of the Watertight bulkheads, however.

-Georgic Plans next. Georgic is the ship that would have been most similar to Oceanic had it been completed. The philosophy of how things are laid out is inspired heavily by Georgic.

-In the same vain, MV Britannic plans also provide useful information on how White Star laid things out at this time.

The problem with these two ships is that they are considerably smaller than Oceanic. So how do you translate such small layouts into the massive Oceanic? This leads us to the other plans

-Ships of similar size, from a similar time. Mainly Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth, though the Mary above the Elizabeth in terms of relevance here. These are similarly sized ships from a similar time, which gives us a good idea on the 1930s philosophy of superliner layouts. What rooms to include, how big rooms should be etc. Once this is figured out we go to Georgic and Britannic (and a third class of ships soon to be mentioned) on how place those rooms in the ship.

-That third and final class of ships to draw influence from is the Imperator, Bismarck, and Vaterland. The SS Bismarck was handed over to the White Star Line after World War 1, and the company was very fond of the design of the ship, notably on its interior. Influence from this interior layout can be seen reflected on Georgic and Britannic. They were also large ships, giving influence in that regard. They also feature split uptakes which Oceanic (which only it' middle funnel would've been 'real') might've had, and my model includes. How to lay a ship out around a split uptake casing, and how to lay a ship out when there is no uptake that would usually get in the way, can be drawn from this class of ships too.
