Welcome to Nelson Regional Airport (IATA : NSN), New Zealand. Located at the top of the south island, it is the main gateway to this beautiful part of the country.
First created in 1937 as an Air force base, it then opened to commercial flights in 1974. In 2014, after many earthquakes concerns about the old terminal, Air New-Zealand granted 30 millions dollars to upgrade the building to security standards. But finally, the airport’s council decided to recreate a brand new facility instead of renovating the old one. And at the end of 2019, the new state-of-the-art terminal was inaugurated.
Air Nelson,
flying under air New Zealand colors, is based there with its fleet of 23 Bombardier Q-300. The Airline connects the main cities of the country with more than 60 flights a day. With the new facilities, it can now host more than 1.2 millions passengers yearly. It is also home to more than 30 businesses, including terminal shops, car rentals and leisure flight compagnies.
This build took approximatly 90 hours to complete all by myself, but sometimes with advice from fellow mates of the Ocenian Team. Everyone can visit this airport on the BTE - ocenian hub (hub.bteoce.com). The passenger terminal has been fully furnished with the help of videos and pictures. There's also some planes and helicopters around the airport (Cesna 208 / Cesna 172 / Bombardier Q-300, ATR 72-600, MBB/Kawasaki BK 117).
Thanks to Howard, Coppertine and Criffane14 for the epic renders, and also some screenshots by myself with chocapic shaders.
