NYC Lifestyle | Exposed Brick Loft
The NYC Lifestyle | Exposed Brick Loft was designed over the course of about a week and a half, off and on, by iRapp (Mithrintia). The build was created entirely in singleplayer, with only vanilla Minecraft features involved. The build is also entirely aesthetic; no redstone contraptions or command block mechanics were used in the creation of this map.
Primarily built with either a single tenant or a young couple in mind, the loft is meant to bring to mind both the contemporary feel of modern apartments, as well as the aged aesthetic of the exposed brick as seen in urban environments. The exposed bricks walls predominant throughout the apartment are accented by the modern, quartz columns and decoration that also occupy the space. With exposed beams and wooden paneling in the ceiling, the apartment feels both appreciative of the past and welcoming to the future.
Containing 1 bedroom, 1.5 baths, foyer, a full kitchen, a breakfast nook, full bar, as well as high loft ceilings in both the living room and kitchen, the entire apartment has a very open, warm, welcoming feel to it. The first floor contains the foyer, living room, half bath, breakfast nook, and kitchen, while the second floor contains the master bedroom and bath, along with a lovely view of the living room from the master bedroom. Modern appliances fill the home, with a sleek fireplace, toaster oven, refridgerator, sound system, as well as a desktop PC and Nintendo GameCube in the master bedroom. The half bathroom contains both a sink and a toilet, while the full bath is fitted with a large tub, perfect for relaxation after a long day at work.
Inspiration for this apartment was primarily gathered through google searches (loft apartments) as well as my recent experience in apartment hunting. My town recently renovated a large number of, well, elderly buildings, into loft apartments in our downtown region. I was fortunate enough to view many of these when the buildings opened as I was apartment hunting at the time. Although I didn't end up living in an exposed brick apartment, they certainly inspired me and remain some of my favorite interior styles of the moment.
Downloading the map is encouraged; pictures do not represent the build quite well enough.
I hope you guys enjoy this entry, it's been a long while since I've built too much (at least, by myself). This contest was a lot ot fun to do, and not at all overwhelming despite my full workload from university. Squeezing it into my schedule has been a pleasure, and best of luck to all the other lovely entries.
Also please pardon the build if it's not up to standard. No one's seen it, so let's hope my interior criticism is good enough! Nontheless, constructive criticism is welcomed, modern is new to me! :)
Thanks again for viewing!
