Ever want to remake a Greek city?! Well I did too! Here is my Mincrafty version of Olympia!

Olympia is known for having been the site of the Olympic Games in classical times, comparable in importance to the Pythian Games held in Delphi. Both games were held every Olympiad (i.e. every four years), the Olympic Games dating back possibly further than 776 BC. In 394 AD, (after exactly 1170 years) emperor Theodosius I abolished them as they were then considered reminiscent of paganism. The first Olympic Games were in Olympia in honor of Zeus.

This is going to be a rebuild of the ancient city of Olympia. It is my serveros current project.





Current buildings: WxLxH*



Temple to Zeus: 41x81x25

-Giant temple. Zeus was the god who they dedicated the Olympics (competitions) to.


Greek house: 34x22x12

-Just a test house I built messing around with textures.


Leonidaion: 100x100x10 (still needs interior)

-lodging place for athletes

Pelopion: 30x30x15

- Alleged tomb of Pelops a figure in Greek mythology. It was a monument surrounded by a pentagonal structure.

Theokoleon: 45x45x10

- High priests lived in the Theokoleon, It also housed the Altar of Hestia where the original Olympic flame once burnt

Being built now: WxLxH*

Palaestra: 70x70x10

- Gymnasium



Planned buildings: WxLxH* A few smaller building not mentioned are to be added.

Stadium: 50x300x15

Area where athletes were athletic, horse racing also took place here.


Metroon: 40x10x15

-Where officials and winners of the Olympic games met at Olympia. The building contained the holy fire of Hestia, the goddess of the hearth, and symbol of the life of the city.

Additional Notes

Along with this project I am creating a Greek Texture Pack. This is the first pixel editing I have ever done. I am "borrowing" little pieces and ideas from about 15 different texture packs. And currently taking a lot from Roman_Pack, but I plan to make my own complete texture pack eventually.

WORLD SAVE INFO:
I plan on uploading a world save in the future, but probably not until at least 50%. Same goes for the texture pack.
