After roughly 2 years of nothing, I've finally decided i want to come back to making stuff like this again!
I thought what better than to re make the portal turret from before.
Rather than fussing about and such, I found a tool online that let me make these in my browser much like a 3D modelling program!

I DID make an animated version using this tool but unfortunately the command lines were too long (and admittedly that is beyond my knowledge to shorten commands like that down, so if anyone would like to share any information on that I'd greatly appreciate it.)

But yes! Portal Turrets are back, now with 2 versions, Active & Dormant, better, more accurate models, and obviously updated from 1.9.4 to much more current standards (made & tested for 1.12.2)
