Rapture (also known as the North Atlantic Project and the Rapture Colony) is a massive underwater city forged by the personal dreams of Andrew Ryan to escape from the political, social and religious anxieties of a post-World War II world. It was established on November 5, 1946 and finished in late 1951. It is located at 63° 2' N, 29° 55' W, which places it at about 433 kilometers west of Iceland's capital, Reykjavik.
The city was intended to be a capitalist utopia for the World's best and brightest, but it fell on the eve of the 1959 New Years Celebrations, into a Civil War.
This is my recreation of the magnificent Art Deco city under the Atlantic. I was hoping to work with a fiend to do the interiors but we never got around to it. I did however build the following interiors: the Bathysphere Station, Waiting Room, Plasmid Lounge, the Atrium, the Kashmir Restaurant (as far as I got on the main route), plus the Point Prometheus Tower and Boss Battle Room (highest room in Rapture). I have not yet built the Lighthouse. All buildings are of my own creation except for the Empire State Building off to the side (outside the water) which was made by another builder. I thought it looked like the right proportions for this city so I put it off to the side for scale.
