Contemplation:

I have often privately wondered what the Japanese conceive about our attempts at adapting our own perspective on their magnificent display of architecture. How perhaps they would chuckle at our ignorance of roots that run much deeper than beautiful art forms, his-story, books, and the crude expression of words by the practicing student and the marveling tourist. Some of us even think ourselves experts by simply watching anime with the expectancy that we've somehow gripped the nature of a people that had preserved their culture for thousands of years.

There is of course nothing wrong with the explorative nature of the adolescent western mind regarding oriental traditions, which include myself. But perhaps we might never truly understand the depth of what the Asiatic stood for beyond conventional history, for they have been know to be one of the most powerful people to ever walk the earth, and rightfully so I would surmise.

Traditions of men:

Looking at modern day Tokyo, we observe the industry of an advancing age, technologies that push the limits of human ingenuity, and the towering heights of contemporary architecture that, in its own respect, delivers a spectacle of beauty that can be appreciated.
However, moving beyond the periphery of modern Japan, we observe the craftsmanship of much older hands, seemingly untouched by the clutches of infiltration and political turbulence, often sufficient enough to divert the traditions of a longstanding people into nothing more than cheap adaptations devoid of old rites and forms of worship.
Disregarding politics and constraints inevitably faced by all societies, Japan are blessed with picturesque cherry blossoms and maples painting the earth with blissful appeal, pagodas and shrines neighboring meandering rivers, peaking mountains, and beautiful wooden structures entailing the richness of her craftsman set against the backdrop of the most beautiful landscapes impressed upon the human experience. These time honored traditions are met by the inquisitive nature of a people that can only be described as a gift from the heavens, for they have left us completely stunned to what the men and woman of old were capable of.

Soft disclaimer:

Lest I be butchered like Ubisoft for confusing Chinese for Japanese architecture, I figured it would be pertinent to point out that this construct, though Japanese, are raised from the ground from my perspective with a fictional setting in mind. Although true to the theme of the Orientals, if it overlaps with Chinese architecture when beaming focus on specifics from a native's viewpoint, it should be kept in mind that complete accuracy were not the aim.

South-East Asia and her people have been proud of what they've produced for thousands of years, so it naturally follows that they WILL point out the difference between China and Japan beyond its geographical demarcation, be it culture, architecture, or traditional disparity.
This build was excruciatingly constructed with a fictional setting in mind, so the specifics of some features were not considered in the traditional sense, but entertained by my vision while, as before mentioned, preserving the overall theme of the building culture in Old Japan. If I were aiming for accuracy, I'd have hit the books for hours, and even so, I'd have been a fool for thinking myself competent in understanding such a beautiful culture by watching anime and reading books about Asia and her denizens. The creation is thus imaginative and established on my own terms and creative vision; the end.

Time, commitment, and respect:

This construct took about a month to complete, and with good reason. Though it is true that I have my priorities beyond Minecraft, the amount of toil put into small details should be considered as a prime factor. Although some structural features were used as a template to complement other regions, this is not merely a matter of stamping buildings and rotating it with WorldEdit. This was an extensive test of patience and handcrafted effort with minimal usage of WE with a couple of exceptions that simply had to be employed, lest months of building ought to have been my lot in contravention to its implements.
Fair enough, building tools does make our lives much easier as builders, but one can only wonder what our past craftsmen must have went through to inspire us to build these things in a matter of days, or less. Perhaps we should appreciate those who still choose to build large constructs block-by-block. Surely, they have mine.

Landscaping:

The basis for the landscape was a confusing affair. Although I chose to take the route via seed, most of what I was aiming for were a blurry mess I just couldn't conceptualize at the time. Looking at IRL Japanese landscapes made me even more hopeless, exceeding what these people produced over the years were nothing more than confidence crushing. However, looking at what Conquest has to offer, I'd have been a fool for at least not trying, so I did.
Smoothing out most of the jumbled terrain produced by vanilla generation, I made some drastic modifications to virtually all aspects of the terrain, demarcating an entire island to give the bridge its purpose, and set the stage for the architecture that will accommodate it. The amount of time spend on this area of the build is worth mentioning, but I'll spare you the boring details of what amounted to mind-numbing effort that could only be achieved with LV100 persistence.

Architecture:

I tried to keep things interesting by applying the same diversity of landscaping to my buildings. In a traditional sense, Pagodas were constructed to house statuary of worship and veneration, so I kept these elements with the addition of filling the Pagoda and temples with scores of books, scrolls, and decoration, producing a place of study and interest instead of a spiraling staircase that exclusively lead toward its apex with a hollowed progression.
The western temple compliments the pagoda with the same purpose, pilgrimage and worship. Alternatively, she were raised as a beautiful vantage point for the northwest water reservoir that house an acupuncture practitioner, organic hot spring, art center, and an old diagonal pavilion for an hiatus, all constructed with an unbelievable level of dedication and respect for those who choose to take interest.

An upper class house are to be found along the main route, with a much larger eight pointed pavilion, serpent temple, followed by the bridge and perched mountainside residence that trails the main pagoda, capped with a ruined lofty structure seated atop snowy peaks.

The village:

The village on the east follows a downward slope that trails the houses toward a coastline that include a fisherman square and an old watchtower. Here, I choose to keep the adjacent houses apart by narrow walkways, local industry, and a residential style that mix a hint of western building influence with its much older counterparts. I also constructed an arched stoned bridge that lead toward a roofed hot spring for relaxation, enveloped in beautiful cherry blossoms and a spectacular view across the calm ocean exclusively accessible via the village route. The amount of detail in this region took a significant amount of days to perfect, so its completion was a huge relief to say the least. Please, don't underestimate the amount of complexity applied to the build as a whole, it far exceeds even the video that took about an hour's walk without displaying her full potential.

Detailing and secrets:

Like many of my builds, mystery and hidden chests are to be found for dedicated users that choose a fair survival narrative. These are sometime associated with what can be considered clues or insight. Some are easy, others difficult, and some next to impossible to find.
Of course, these are not a necessity, so you can simply choose to ignore it and go on your own journey with the entire expanse as your basis. However, powerful gear can be found if you commit yourself to such an endeavor, of which, a collection of legendary equipment will be at your disposal if you have the patience and investigative capacity to find them. Having these at hand will virtually render you invincible, so it might be worth your time investments if you play survival exclusively.

Interiors:

Every-single interior were meticulously furnished, and offers a different feel to each residence and temple. Again, don't undervalue the amount of time spend filling them, it's not a matter of stamping pieces together or filling spaces as soon as possible, the majority of internal spaces were marked with a reference point to the exterior, allowing both to complement each other, this affords a sensible view through windows. It follows and implies that the location for the entire expanse were worked out to involve immersion between points of interest, even though I initially maneuvered the thing like a headless chicken for at least a day or two lol.
I omitted most of the interiors in the PMC gallery, so if you are interested in looking at them from my perspective, be the judge via YT. I'm not a Youtuber, I just think It's fair to personally show what I've created for those who take interest. I'm not trying to hide the forth wall, nor wish to bombard you with renders that bleed the actual build visually dry in comparison. What you see in the video is honestly what you get, lest you have an RTX GPU that exceeds the limits my GTX has to offer, in which case, the build will look significantly better from your perspective.

Performance:

Though not free from WorldEdit, I diligently refined the majority of the entire construct with as much detail as possible within my current capabilities without breaking the performance with hundreds of entities within a given FOV, otherwise I would have added more and more structures to the detriment of fluent FPS. Baring in mind that I don't have a powerful computer according today's standards, my GTX 1070 triumphs with a consistent 60FPS on a high Shader preset and a draw distance of 16. Since most of you probably exceed my specs, you can be rest assured that you'll be able to run the build without any issues, especially with the performance mods I've included should you ever need it.

Conclusion:

I've said this before; I don't claim to be a "pro builder", nor class myself better than others, but when I bring something to the table, I try to do my best, which is no exception here. There is a ton of aspects I can still point out that would credit the time and effort I've put into what is here presented, but I think I've driven the point home in this simplified expression. Whatever you create, be it simple or brutality complex, be proud of it!

Quote, because why not:

This build has reach a level beyond what I thought to be possible. There are not enought words to describe this artifact of mastery, however I'll try to grasp it like so:
First of all, the detailing is incredible! I know only a few builds and builders who have the will, dedication and talent to push their builds with detailing, creating sth pleasing to the eye!
Secondly, the time and effort put into thinking, designing and executing the build simply shows how much you love this game and its inifinite creating possibilities! Truly portrays minecraft the way it should be, a medium to share your creativity and imagination with others, learning and teaching another to grow together!
Lastly, your inspiration (ghosts of tsushima) really is reflected in your creation, which I absolutely love because it is a superb game!
Anyway, ro keep it short...:
Keep doing what you are doing, sharing your skills and knowledge with others to help this community!

Man, I am truly humbled by your reply. I never really considered by builds to be much of an inspiration for a community who is already beyond my level, but I'll take the compliment as drive to improve upon my hobby as I move along, thank you.
And yes, though I don't have much time to play Ghost Of Tsushima, it's an absolute masterpiece worth grinding for hours haha. Again, I appreciate the feedback!
