Hello there.
Today I am showcasing my newest build, namely the RMS Oceanic of 1899! The Oceanic was the second of her name, named after the SS Oceanic of 1870, White Star's first oceanliner. Oceanic was described as the "Ship of the Century" being launched and completed in 1899 just before the turn of the 19th century. She shared many design features with her older fleetmates Teutonic and Majestic, but was far larger (especially her notably tall funnels) and had improvements to her accommodations, but she was slightly slower than them due to White Star's shifting focus instead on luxury and comfort over speed and prestige.
Oceanic was launched on the 14th of January 1899 and was fully completed on the 26th of August that year. She sailed on her maiden voyage on the 6th of September from Liverpool to New York, and later in 1907 becoming one of the first White Star liners to inaugurate the new Southampton - New York route.
In 1914, World War 1 broke out. Oceanic was laid up and converted into an armed merchant cruiser, having several 4.7 inch guns installed for her role in the British Royal Navy. Oceanic would see a pityfully short career in this role when she grounded off the coast of the island of Foula, north of Scotland. Oceanic could not be recovered and she ended up becoming the first Allied ship lost in WW1. Within two weeks, the ship has disappeared below the waves, having been quickly broken up by the brutal weather of the area. Today only remnants of her hull remains, such as some of her machinery and other interiors. Today, all that remains of Oceanic are some scattered furniture and interiors, a propeller blade as well as one of her lifeboats.
This build is in the 1.8.1 scale and is 387 blocks long and 37 blocks wide. Included in the world download is a version of the ship with added water wake and smoke effects, and one version without. The build has full interiors. The world download is in Java Edition, so no Bedrock. Sorry!
Hope you enjoy!
Special thanks to Dooku200 for building the First Class Lounge, all First Class cabins, and various additional help and mental support!
