9k x 9k map inspired by the San Juan mountains of Southwest Colorado.

The map has no border, just an endless void beyond the edges of the map. I don't intend to change that, as I made this map for an upcoming build that doesn't really need a border.

Because the map has no caves, I boosted resources a little for balance if you're playing on survival. This also means that monsters spawn like crazy during the day, so beware the woods!

Tools Used:
World Machine
World Painter
Minecraft (of course)

One thing I noticed about the transition between forest and mountain is that the trees usually maintained a certain height. In mountains usually the trees start getting shorter as the elevation increases (i noticed that your elevation gradually increases (cool). In colorado there's a type of tree called the krummholz tree. Basically they are stunted trees that are bent over from all the heavy wind etc. Also the trees usually change as the elevation increases. (Sorry this is just something I noticed take it with a grain of salt)

You're absolutely right and I've been struggling for years now to find a balance between tree scale and mountain scale. Big trees make mountains look small but small trees look goofy compared to the player. I think your solution is the right one, in making trees shorter as you increase in elevation. Right now, I'm using trees made by other people and there's not that much variation in height, so in the future I'm just going to have to build my own set of trees to use. Thank you for the compliment on the transition, I worked really hard on making that look right.

Hi, this map is very good. Im happy I found a map inspired by real life because most of the maps you find look great but dont make sense in real life. (Forests suddenly transition to deserts even if they are on the same elevation) In this one I was happy to see an end to the treeline and that there werent trees growing on the mountains or something weird.
