UPDATE: My mk2 version is completed, which has made this design obsolete. Check it out here:

Today I released a video on my latest invention, which me and my co-inventor EDTA anmed: Sokar/EDTA's Melon Automate, or SEMA; The Ultimate Melon/Pumpkin farm!
Alright so I guess in minecraft nothings ever "ultmate" but its pretty damn good. The main features and why I'd prefer this over a standard melon farm is:
You harvest by pushing a button. No more automatic harvesting which leaves you having to go back and further all the time.
Its compact. All the other designs for automatic melon farms has like 1 stem with a 10x10. This one gives you 4 stems in that same area!
No more tilling the dirt. You simply hit a reset button, and the whole system gets ready to go again.
And last but not least...
ITS CHEAP! Only 3 pistons, 2 repeaters, and 14 redstone pr melon stem. Making it very much availiable for Survival play.
Its only draw back is that it has a loss of yield of 4-5%, in form of melon slices getting stuck, which again, compared to other automated designs is much better.
