I'm slowly but surely making a roman town/city on a superflat map. It's a longterm project. The reason I'm doing it on a superflat world is so that I can alter the terrain for the buildings I want instead of having to make buildings for certain terrain. It lets me plan the city out a lot more and build bigger and better buildings.

It reminds me of the Curia Julia, the 2nd or 3rd official Roman senate house, after the Curia Hositlia. Not to take away form the build in any way, it's beautiful and spot on (and a diamond of course) but there were definitely official Roman Rebulic senate houses. That went away, in a sense, during the empire, as you said towards theatres, temples, complexes or even palaces, but the senate buildings also existed, very much as you have built it.
