The first in a new series of challenge maps!
The Reviews are in! (well actually, all the quotes are from the same person, but I'm not making them up)
"Wicked Hard"
"It's really cool"
"Definitely fun, just hard at the same time"
"Scared the bejeesus out of me"
So there you go, someone played it and enjoyed it! (hint hint, you should too!)
Suggested Players: 2-4
I've always loved sieges, and Minecraft kind of lacks them. I've thought about ways to implement them, player attacking player (not enough players usually), and mobs attacking player (mobs aren't smart enough to attack). Thus it falls to Player attacks Mob!
What I've done here is built a pretty intense castle, and then armed it to the teeth with ways to kill you. Playing you will:
1. Risk being killed by traps
2. Have to fight through hordes of defenders
3. Gain massive loot!
Now why does loot matter? It's just an adventure map! Once I get it I'm done and don't need it!
Well I'll tell you. This is more than just a challenge map, it's built (by hand I'll add) into a naturally generated Minecraft world. That means after you collect your loot and win, you get to keep playing Minecraft as usual! Think of it as a good way to start off strong in a game, but rather than item spawning a whole bunch of gear you have to work for it. And work HARD.
The rules and goals are listed in the attached readme files (so look at them!) but to sum up your goal is to grab one thing from each chest inside the castle and bring it back to your viking longship. Harder than it sounds.
How to play on MANLY mode: Since many people do not have the mods they need to change weather and/or time of day, I'll give you a quick tip. To keep the game on MANLY mode it needs to always be dark. You can achieve this by opening your world to LAN on the options menu and selecting cheats. From there, everytime the sun starts coming up simply type /time set night and it will be so. You can also use /weather thunder to achieve the same effect and make it even harder. Good luck!
This will not be easy to beat...so I've put tips in the README.
If you enjoyed, let me know somehow by commenting or something like that.

Update #8 : by Gog_the_Viking 01/31/2013 4:33:57 pmJan 31st, 2013
The entire castle is now structurally sound, to keep you from burning the floor out from under you and ruining the game.
