A space shuttle is a reusable aerospace vehicle, designed to serve low-orbiting space stations, but which can also provide other missions, such as launching or repairing artificial satellites.
The space shuttle is launched by a rocket. It lands like a glider or using a reactor.
Several shuttles were built and used by NASA, the US Space Agency from the 80's to 2011. There is a total of 6 shuttles and 1 1:1 model. Announced as very reliable (1 failure on 100,000 flights) and very economical, the American shuttle quickly disenchanted NASA. The shuttle accidents * Challenger * and * Columbia * dropped the failure rate every 63 missions and became very very costly.
the crawler transport on his side is a monster steel impressing crawler, it weighs nearly 2,700 tons. This vehicle moves very slowly: it takes almost 6 hours to move the shuttle to No. 39. Each track element weighs about one ton.It was the largest rolling vehicle in the world, until it was overtaken by German giant lignite excavators, such as the Bagger 288.The two copies "Hans" and "Franz" were designed by Bucyrus International and built by Marion Power Shovel Company for US $ 14 million each.
