History
This is the SS Argentinia from 1901, the sister of Africa. The Prussian Emperor Lloyd was also the owner. On October 8th, 1877 the ship was laid on keel and on August 26th, 1900 it was launched. The Argentinia was originally supposed to bear the name Lybria. After changing the route, however, it was decided to name the ship after a South American country. Just like your sister, Africa drove from Hamburg across the Atlantic to La Plata in South America. After the First World War, which the ship experienced in a neutral port, it was given to the White Star Line as a reparation payment. This used the ship 3 more years until it was finally scrapped in 1923.
