Hi everybody, this is the oceanliner "SS LEVIATHAN", ex. "SS VATERLAND". You will receive both
versions of this ship. Why the german Hamburg-Amerika-Liner "Vaterland" became the american
"Leviathan", will be explained in the following paragraph:

Some historic stuff:
The "Vaterland" was the second ship of the Imperator-class-trio, her sisterships were the "Imperator"
and "Bismarck".
The ship was completed in 1914 and became the world's biggest ship, with 54.282 BRT, it was about
8000 BRT bigger than the Titanic. The "Vaterland" is the biggest ship ever sailed under a german
flag.
But the "Vaterland" had just completed a few voyages across the atlantic, when WW1 started, so
the liner was layed up in New York City. Later, in 1917, when the United States entered the war, she
was seized by the US and turned over to the U.S. Navy and became the SS Leviathan. Until the end
of the war, she served as a troop transporter and than, the "Leviathan" was handed over to the United States
Line.

She was built by Lins and Philpp by LPH Shipyard
