This ship was used as a ferry to transport passengers across small lakes, with her voyages usually being somewhere between five to thirty-five miles. It has four main passenger areas: A lower saloon inside the ship's hull, a main saloon on the superstructure's first deck, a premium saloon on the superstructure's second deck, and an outdoors area atop the superstructure. It was propelled by a single screw, driven by a triple-expansion engine. Steam power was raised by two double-sided boilers amidships, which was used to drive the engines and various deck machinery. All passenger spaces aboard the ship were equipped with electric lighting and running water.
In 1927 the ship's triple-expansion engine was replaced by a turbine, and one of the boilers was removed. This allowed the lower saloon to be expanded, increasing the ship's maximum capacity from 300 to 375 persons. In addition, the ship's wooden seats were replaced by upholstered ones. In 1943, while sailing overloaded and in heavy weather, the Elektros struck underwater rocks and rapidly sank, killing 348 of the 520 aboard.
Dimensions:
Length: 57 meters (187 feet)
Beam: 8 meters (26 feet)
Height, keel to top of hull: 8.5 meters (28 feet)
Height, waterline to top of funnels: 15.5 meters (51 feet)
