ABOUT:
The S.S. Änne Maria was a sailing ship of the Northwest Shipping Company and was commissioned in 1843. Together with her two sisters, the Nielrie and Paularic, they mainly transported cargo to the New World. After steam became more and more important as a propulsion in the middle of the 19th century, the Änne Maria and her sisters were laid up in the harbor from 1857. Around 1862, the shipping company decided to convert the ships into pure 1st class ships in order to get more money into the now empty coffers. In 1931 the ship was handed over to the German Navy and converted into a sail training ship until she was scrapped in 1940.
