the architecture of those temples IRL is mesmerizing by itself, but you did a superb job on re-evoking it in MC.

Wondrous work on the details, and the car... the bus/truck... that's the hammer, just as if if would be a photo IRL :)

deserved spot in contest

DId you guys use world painter?
Yes, our Terraformers used a combination of Worldmachine and Worldpainter.
It says you can't use external programs like Worldpainter for the contest though...
Nothing in particular says you can't use external software. The rules just note that you can't use anything that produces an output and then uses a 3D model converter as an example. It depends if the judges considered WorldPainter a building aide, but personally since I feel WorldMachine/WorldPainter both require time and skill to learn, they should not be classified with a 3D model converter and rather should be a (permitted) building aide.

As WorldMachine/WorldPainter have been used in finalist entries in previous contests, as well as our placement in 2nd place without being disqualified for using the software (and I'm sure the judges from the building community could likely assume it was used), I believe WorldPainter/WorldMachine are allowed in certain cases. Seeing as the terrain is not the siginificant factor in this build and the temple/town were, I'm going to assume if we did enter something that was just very intricate WorldMachine/WorldPainter terrain with a tiny 30x30 temple on the top of a mountain, we would have likely been disqualified for using the software as a major factor in our entry and in that case it would have done a large portion of the work for us.

In conclusion, I believe that you can you Worldpainter and WorldMachine in contests, but if it ends up being a more significant factor in your entry over that which is built on it, I understand if that entry recieves disqualification.

Someone reported the thread for some reason. Only thing I can think of is that they're pettily trying to get it disqualified by claiming the 3D models in the thread count as renders, making the amount of non-rendered images less than 75%. But that would be nitpicking, since there's exactly 75% if you just count the actual images.

Discussions regarding the rules are kinda pointless, if there is the limitation of 75% it has to count for all the pictures, otherwise it would be completely senseless. For instance, use an unedited shot as only "screenshot" and fill up your description with shadered renders ... nonetheless, I think such information should be defined more clearly (though as for my view, it already is)

Much luck to the contestants nonetheless, stunning work here!

I actually didn't realize this project was filled with all those extra images and GIF's. Heck I was afraid to add anything else but 20 images (at least 15 unedited) to my entry. I thought a video would be nice, but I dumped that idea in fear I'd disqualify myself right away :D because a video (using shaders an whatnot) would be basically a continuous stream of edited images, right? ...
I think the rule is quite clear: At last 75% of all provided images must be unedited.
pretty sure the report came in before we added the gifs.

well, then it's just someone pettily reporting it for no good reason. I hate people that abuse report systems like that. Or they can't count. I can see 0 valid reason to report this. It's not a solo build contest or anything, there's no starter map you have to use, it's definitely a temple...

Yep, jealousy is just important for some people ... nonetheless, a report is rather senseless, as the post doesn't violate any of PMC's rules, the only thing that could happen (which has nothing to do with the report-button though) would be a disqualification for the contest, but the project would not be taken down. And thats the reason why there are judges. It's their task to look through the entries and disqualify the ones violating the contest rules from the contest. But yeah, try to reasonally argue with envious people and you see how far you come xD
