You play as a young man who wakes up in a bunker with no knowledge on information about himself. You must venture through a disgusting swamp dominated by putrid creatures non existent of thought. As you play through, only one thing is in your head: GET OUT.

Greetings, this is my first Minecraft Map! This is the first in a series of horror maps that I hope to make for Minecraft. I am still working on it, and am just learning how to use commands, so this might not be the best experience. This map contains multiple resource packs created by other people, which I will leave credit to for making.

INSTRUCTIONS:
-Place the resource packs for the Zombies on top of the fallout resource packs, the gun resource pack goes at the bottom.
-Be sure to read all of the instructions in the map.

PROGRESS REPORT 1.1:
-Guns will now be featured. No mods needed!
-A few cheap jumpscares will be present, but only for those foolish enough to fall for them...
-The map will most likely be a little bit short, as this is more of a 'prequel' to a later map... or is it? (It is.)

This map is still in development, so feel free to suggest ideas or add me on Discord at Donald Duck#9583.
Cheers Bud!

Hey- I would really like to see this map hit that 100% completed mark. Here are a few suggestions.

1. Slowness. Level II for a more action oriented play, and level III for a more re7 feeling. Though I think you may already have that in mind being inspired by panr4in.

2. Intellectual ways of dealing with enemies. A lot of horror games overuse the idea of "run, or fight"- but there are so many more options. Maybe you could shoot a rooftop to drop an anvil on a strong enemy's head- maybe you could provide narrow crevices players could crouch-crawl through to escape enemies. This really forces players to use what little they have to their advantage- really disempowering.

3. Give enemies knockback resistance. This makes combat much much riskier giving the players less space to work with.

4. Make players truly regret being damaged. Make each hit from a mob more than just "I lost some hearts". This could be achieved by making healing elements scarce (you can even use a gamerule to disable natural health regen) and making enemies do lots of damage.

MISC

I have plans to make a horror map as well. I currently have a working datapack (modified from GGUNZ datapack) that adds 4 guns with custom 3d models- when you aim them, it displays as a fps. Using the resident evil style of scarce ammo, it could go really well with a survival horror. I've also been tinkering with commandblocks and I have a method of making really intense blood-on-screen effects when a player takes damage. I'll be releasing these on PMC sometime and non-commercial maps like this will be able to use these resources.

Wow, thank you for the ideas! I have just started work on the Town, and Zombies will have Speed 2 and Strength 2 to make them deadly. When you start out, the zombies will lose the speed buff, but they keep the strength. As for the slowness thing, whenever I make a 'cutscene' or something similar, I usually use slowness. When it zooms in a person, I sometimes make the slowness greater in value,.

I suppose working with buffs like speed and strength could work equally on mobs- but if you ever find yourself needing a more accurate approach in terms of mob damage and movement speed, I suggest looking in to mob spawn commands that modify the mobs' movement speeds and attack damage values.

Looking forward to it! Tho, I'm not a big fan of the horror genre, this seems great!
I hope you don't lose motivation for this map as I did for some of my own. :P

If there's something that I see other horror maps lacking is real suspense. I don't mean just a dark hallway you walk through with a chance of jumpscares, I mean taking away certain things that may leave people very unsettled.

This is more survival-horror in theme, and I'm just starting out with commands so things such as jump scares won't be in here. My inspiration was from PanR4IN, he is excellent at making survival horror maps without little to no cheap jump scares and incredibly immersive gameplay. I would recommend you see his map 'The Territory' as an example.

Oh yes, I've played a lot of his maps, more his adventure stuff like Anet. (also have played the territory)
