This former church was built in the 17th century, and likely later, in the 18th century remodeled as it can be seen having a steep roof, aswell as a steep, almost gothic looking church tower on several depictions on Mexican folding screens of the17th century.
In 1768 an Earthquake damaged the building so badly that nowadays only the facade, and the baroque bell tower remains.
The congregation of the church moved to the Church known as "La Profesa" shortly after, since the jesuits had been expelled from it in 1767.
Behind the facade, nowadays is the Biblioteca Lerdo de Tejada Located.
