Overview
The Mine In Abyss server is a recreation of the Made in Abyss anime. With a fully explorable abyss spanning 7,000 blocks vertically, allowing players to enjoy the delving experience in Minecraft. The map is not available for download, because the map relies on the server's plugins to function. The map also keeps this project alive and we do not want to segment the community. Keeping the map and community in one place ensures work on the project continues.
If you want to join feel free to join our Java Server at survive.mineinabyss.com.
Server is only supported for Java Edition 1.19.x.
Will expand it later, but for now here is a bunch more images from our anniversary post.
Resource Pack
Over the last year we have worked heavily on our custom resource-pack to introduce a unique style to the server. This means we have a vast range of custom mobs, custom items dropped by the mobs - and even a custom GUI for players to enjoy.
We have it set up to allow people to automatically download it when they join the server, or get a manual download from our website.
We also made a skybox to combat the issue of render distance abit, which can also be found on the website.
If you wish to contribute to the resource pack, be sure to drop by the #resource-pack channel on our Discord
Build Progression
- Orth is now complete with the new additions of the Cliff, Village and Tower Districts. We have also finished the interior for most of Orths buildings.
- Layer 1 through to Layer 5 are now finished in terms of terrain, with our builders actively adding new areas to discover throughout the Abyss. We are also hosting public build-events to contribute on smaller structures within the abyss where we allow anyone to join!
- Most of the notable spots in both the manga and anime have been built, such as Nanachi's Hut, Seeker Camp and the Ancient Ship in Layer 3.
- Idofront is still being worked on as it is a project on a scale similar to that of Orth.
If you wish to contribute to our build team, you can join the Build Server at build.mineinabyss.com , where you can build for an application and submit it in our Discord. Read more about contributing here
Survival Events
We've held two big events on survival last year, both themed after other series:
Overlord - We recreated The Great Tomb of Nazarick and had players explore it and fight the characters from the show.
Fate Event - We also had an event based on the Fate-series. We rebuilt the Camelot Castle with interior and everything, and alot of other points of interest. Players were then able to fight the characters which had custom modelled swords from the show.
Adventure
For a while now, we've been planning a separate server that could deliver more than regular Minecraft experience. Nothing was getting done in that regard, so we decided to start a design team to get things rolling! The team has been really great, and we're starting to build an image of what we want to achieve. We've gone through a lot of iterations when coding our relics system, and have recently settled on using Entity Component Systems (ECS). This design pattern is common in some bigger games and nicely lets us make both relics and mobs super modular.
The survival server will exist alongside adventure. Survival's goal is to be Minecraft in the abyss, while adventure will be a more hardcore unique game mode. Our plans for adventure may change in the future, so we won't give too much info right now.
So far it's looking like a roguelike with some long term progression systems, we hope to make the delving experience similar to a run of MineZ, while addressing some of its progression issues and overall lack of variety. Alright, I'll keep my mouth shut now, but we hope to get a basic playable server working within half a year. We know it's slow, but stay tuned!
Social Media Links
- Website - The website is mainly a place where we host the resourcepack and skybox, but also general information and updates.
- Discord - This is the place that keeps the community together. If you have any questions, want to contribute or just hangout, be sure to stop by.
- YouTube - Here we plan on streaming both build events and survival events, as well as make either update livestreams or videos
- Twitter - We try to post "regular" updates on twitter whenever we have something.
- Twitch - If we start using this, it will mainly be an additional platform to stream events on.
- Patreon / Ko-fi - The money we get here go solely to keeping our server costs covered, as well as allowing us to upgrade them as needed.
- GitHub - Here we host all the own plugins that we use for the server.
Keep in mind, major updates are few and far between so our social medias are not the most active. Be sure to join the Discord if you want more regular updates.

2 Update Logs
World Height Update and server reset : by MineInAbyss 07/11/2021 6:43:49 pmJul 11th, 2021
Another 6 months since the last update. Most of the changes have been focused on reworking and finishing Orth.
We are finally closing in on this, meaning we can put more focus towards the Abyss itself in the form of dungeons and terrain.
We are going to be updating the server map on August 1st and at the same time, update to 1.17.
This means new blocks for builders to play around with, but most exciting of all, extended world height!
We are going to aim to have each section be around 500-1000 blocks depending on the layer.
We cannot go higher as of now, due to performance (perhaps one day).
This is still a big change, as it is about 2x the vanilla height.
We are also gonna be adding a ton of new gameplay systems and features to better the overall experience.
As always, info and a full list of the changes can be found in our Discord Server.

You can always join our server and play, but since the map relies on a plethora of plugins to function as intended.
It wouldn't really work as a singleplayer map anyway
