Backround: This is lore for the map I am currently developing the lands of Aegaeon
Xanthia Geneiada is the scourge of the lands of Aegaeon, also known as the king of pirates. He was already an extremely feared and successful pirate when he acquired this massive first rate flagship partly by chance. At the time the pirate commanded 350 men aboard 3 sloops and a frigate. His objective was to attack and attain another frigate for his growing fleet, his plan was to attack at night the harbor cove of the kingdom Aspro Kerasi.
He approached the cove at night very carefully and slowly due to a thick night fog. Upon arrival at the harbor the pirate captain realized there were 6 frigates guarding the harbor with only two with sailors ready to engage. Also he saw the unmanned first rate at anchor, apparently in harbor to upgrade her cannon.
The pirates attacked fiercely and rapidly, The frigates at anchor taking extreme crippling damage within minutes of the first cannon fire. Caught by surprise the two guarding frigates engaged the pirates but were also disabled after about 20 mins of battle, though they managed to brutally damage two of the sloops and demast the third.
After the short battle the pirate captain acted and under cover of the thick fog, which prevented the fort from accurately attacking the pirates. He quickly brought his frigate close to each of the sinking sloops ordering his men on board, he then took 2/3rds of his remaining men on board the first rate and sailed away with a historic prize.
Later Xanthia Geneiada sailed the ship to his small pirate island fortress somewhere in Aegaeon. He anchored the ship at a cove since she only was equipped with 50 cannon, to be used as a floating fortress and guard the pirates island. Later the ship was renamed after the legendary dragon Ancalagon, she was also refitted with cannon, red silk sails, a copper plated bottom, and repainted red and black. The Ancalagon was then used with support of sloops and frigates to capture more quality military frigates for the now pirate kings growing fleet.
The Ancalagon was the pirate kings flagship for many years until he captured another more advanced first rate which he adopted as his new flagship. Xanthia Geneiada then gave the ship to one of his most trusted captains, who set sail with Ancalagon across Aegaeon to join a collection of six pirate ships and become thier commander. All that is known of the Aegaeon after this is she never made it to join the second pirate fleet. A large sea tempest swept through the sea during her voyage and she is presumed lost and wrecked somewhere in Aegaeon.
Ancalagons features:
All materials used are materials that would actually be used in real first rate ships; she is largely based on the HMS Victory for general shape
Red silk sails
dark oak and red painted oak broadsides
copper plated below sealine
100 broadside cannon
tons of rope and rigging placed as best as I could for look not really authentic (craft limitations)
2 iron anchors
Incomplete:
cannon decks not decorated and empty accept for cannon
captains quarters and all below decks are empty and not decorated I will complete this later

ive completed the shipwreck and ive done minor work on the interior however this project is on pause for the moment
