This is my entry for the Gladiator Arena Contest, hosted by Eeirail and Arcaniax. It is roughly 170 by 170 blocks (the structure, not the landscape).

Lore
Long ago, the people of the T'arkanas Tribe were visited by the god Uthari. He commanded them to send their mightiest warriors to this arena, made by the gods themselves, to test their prowess agains the other Tribes of the land. After a long journey, they arrived, accompanied by most of their Tribe, who had come to watch them. Their first impression was that of awe: this structure was larger than anything they had ever seen, so large it could only have been made by the gods themselves.
Once the Warriors had readied themselves, the fight began. Whenever it went particularly badly for one of the many warriors in the fight, the sky rumbled. When a warrior died, Lighting flashed through the sky. The Tribes then realized that they were not the only spectators. All the Gods had gathered to watch the mighty battle.
When the battle was over, only 1 warrior of each tribe still stood, as that was how the gods had decreed it. The Tribes returned to their homes, and continued to live their life.
A decade later, it all began again, and was repeated every decade for centuries to come, though the Tribes changed, died out, or blended together. Till this day, it has not ended, and brave warriors still come to test themselves in the Arena of Gods.
