Many have probobly seen the New Mexican flag and some may know that the symbol on it is called the Zia Symbol. What most people don't know is the meaning behind the four sets of four rays protruding from the circle. A group of native people that live in New Mexico beleived that their god gave gifts in sets of four. The first set of gifts he gave, the four cardinal directions (north south east west), are represented by the top four rays. The second set, the four seasons in the year, are resembled by the rays on the right. The third set of gifts, the four times of day (Sunrise, noon, sunset, and night) are represented by the bottom four rays. Finally the last set of gifts, the four parts of life ( Childhood, youth, adulthood, and old age), are represented by the left four rays. All these sets of gifts are encircled in an infinite circle continuing untill the end of time.
