Lore: Hugh was a man of simple life, and living. He had been travelling through the mountains for many a months. Thirsty, and hungry, he was near the point of wasting away. Legends foretold of an ancient temple, a worshipping place of the beautiful goddess, Xena, whose lusciousness brought many from across the lands. Hugh reached the ridge, and peered across the magnificence. While he was nearing the end of his journey, his troubles were not nearly over. Before one can reach the temple, there are trials of the mind and spirit. But Hugh was determined to pay homage to Xena. On his way down to the temple, Hugh met many other travelers. What surprised him was the grim looks on all their faces. What he had not known was the severity of the trials. The travelers tell him of those they had lost to the trials, and warned him not to go. Hugh was not phased by these comments, but visibly revitalized. “No trials can stop me”, thought Hugh. Onward he went, and straight to the foot of the first trial. No, really, the first trial’s foot. The trial was not a trap, or a physical barrier, but a test of heart, judged by an eight-story tall winged warrior, Xanada (the twin sister of Xena, fraternal, of course). The warrior stooped down, and peered into Hugh’s soul. He was unafraid, for he knew he led a good life, and his intentions were well. Xanada saw this apparent, and let him pass. The man that went before him was not as lucky, and his remains stained the trodden earth. Hugh was walking with a purpose towards the temple’s entrance, but was stopped suddenly by a blood-curdling scream. “That must be the second trial”, thought Hugh, almost sarcastically. The second, and final trial laid before him. The third sister, Xaliah, a serpent was in the middle of the path, chewing on the bones of another traveler. Hugh announces loudly to the sister, “State thy trial! I am pure of heart”. The snake goddess replies through slit-tongue “You think you shall pass by me? Then ansssswer thissss, these quesssstionssssss, three...” .



“I am ready”   



“Quessssstion one: What isss your purpose here?”



“To bask in Xena’s bodacious presence”. Mulling this over in the goddess’ mind, she determined it to be fitting, and moved on to question two, “What makes the Booty-ful Xena worthy of receiving your homage?” Hugh was taken aback by the sister’s question, but came up with an answer to which he thought was honest. “Well, your greatness, Xena has influenced my life, and has helped me to model myself after her voluptuousness. Xaliah was impressed with the traveler’s response, and delivered the final question, “Why do you feel worthy to enter my sister’s palace?” To this, the man replied, “Look into my past, see myself, named after my father, and him after his father, and him after his father, and so on for as long as any can remember. each has made the journey to this glorious temple, and I am here to carry out my destiny, and withhold my family legacy, ...and name” Xaliah slithers off of the path, and says to him, “you are indeed worthy of your namesake”. The traveler walks into the temple and kneels at the altar, placing down his gifts.



“Rise, my follower”, says Xena, taking a human form in front of him. “Tell me, you who is worthy of my succulent treasure, what is your name?

“Hugh”, says the man, “Hugh Jaz”.
