The Mole Antonelliana
The Mole Antonelliana is an important landmark building in Turin, Italy, named after its architect, Alessandro Antonelli. A mole in Italian is a building of monumental proportions. Construction began in 1863, soon after Italian unification, and was completed in 1889, after the architect's death. Originally conceived as a synagogue, when the project increased from 70 to 167 meters the Jewish community preferred to give it to the city due to excessive costs and it became a national museum. At the time it was the tallest brick building in the world
