STORY

English Version:

It was a clear night with a sky of thousand stars when he sat down at his porch.
He holds a book in his hands. The small candle on the table gave off a weak but warm light which shimmered in his face.
The book was entitled "The Tale Of The Heron King".
Every time he reads he wallows in remembrance of better times. The times he read out the story to his grandchildren.
Now they are all grown up. None of them comes to visit him.
He opens the book.

The Tale Of The Heronking

Once upon a time in a boggy barrens there lived a family of ducks.
Each of them was very ill. For years the surrounding towns and villages had been dumping into the river.
Eventually everything landed in the barrens. The ducks were hopeless. They cried all night. Every night.
One night, the mother of the ducks was dying, they saw a shooting star in the sky.
The youngest one of them made a wish. He wished his mother could live. He wished the barrens would be clean.
A few hours later, the mother had already been very weak, they heard a splash. splash. splash. splash...
They looked around, but they could not spot anything.
Then they heard it again. splash. splash. splash...
This time it appeared as if it was right in front of them.
Now, as they looked around there was a light. A warm golden light.
He stood there noble and magnificent in the barrens. One single Heron.
His feathers were golden. On his head was a crown.
But what happened? Through every step he made the barrens got more clean.
The young ducklings turned over to their mother. Seemingly she felt better.
Her body was drenched with the golden shine of the heron. A smile appeared on her face.
The next day the barrens were flooded by sunlight. The water was as clear you could look right to the ground through it.
The mother of the ducks was sound again and also all other animals were too.
Now the Heronking returns every year in this exact one night to cleanse the barrens and its dwellers.

The old man closed the book. All of it is just an old fairy tale. Is it?

Jedoch waren dessen Federn golden.

Wow, being honest from all the organic/3D Art works out here this would be my favourite. I like how you captured just the right scale, when you don't make 1:1 stuff but you don't escape into detailed curvy forms and keep the objects pixelated. I believe that you actually managed to achieved the full potential of minecraft cubic nature in 3D art style :)
Looking forward to see works like this, especially in natural setting.
P.S. some people down there are correct - the trees either have to be less detailed (more bulky and coarse forms + use wool too make it look less detailed) or just bigger - this will make the plot perfect!
